Gift Policy:

The TSTC Waco Library welcomes donations of books and of materials in other formats. At the same time, we want prospective donors to understand that we cannot promise to add all gifts to the permanent collection and we reserve the right to dispose of them as appropriate.

• The library does not have sufficient staff to pick up gifts; therefore, we would prefer that all gifts be delivered to the Library. You may bring your donations to the Library’s circulation desk or to the back service door of the Library. You will be asked to complete a brief donor information sheet; this is used to allow us to acknowledge your gift but you do not have to complete the form if you do not want acknowledgement of your gift. 
• You may go to GIFT FORM to print and complete copy to be brought to Library with your donation.
• Each gift will be evaluated to determine its appropriateness for inclusion in the reference, circulating or special collections. Gifts are evaluated before they are added to the collection to insure relevance to the needs of library users and to guard against unnecessary duplication.
• Not all gift materials are suitable for this collection. At your request, items not retained for the permanent collection can be returned to you. If no prior arrangement has been made, items not placed in the library collections are usually donated to other libraries or offered to library clientele at no cost.
• The library staff regrets that it does not have time, expertise, or the legal authority to appraise the value of donations for tax deduction purposes. Donors will receive a letter acknowledging only receipt of the gift; it will not include appraisal of the monetary value of the gift. Appraisals for tax purposes are the responsibility of the donor.
• All donations with signed gift forms will automatically be acknowledged by the President’s Office.  At the donor’s request, the Library will post a public acknowledgement also.  Please specify on the GIFT FORM if you wish public recognition, gift plate or other requirements.

We trust that this statement of policy will in no way discourage library supporters from contacting the library about possible gifts. The TSTC Waco Library appreciates the generosity of persons who wish to improve the library collections through donations of gift items.
